Grade 4
Instructor: Mrs. Raun
Welcome to 4th Grade at Longfellow Elementary!  We will share an exciting year full of fun and learning!  This is my 15th year as a teacher at Longfellow.  My first ten years were spent as a first grade teacher, and I am looking forward to my fifth year of working with fourth-graders.  My husband, Andy, and I have a two-year-old daughter named Jordyn, and we are expecting our second child in early September.

Great Start!
We have had a wonderful start to our school year!  The fourth-graders are working hard now that we are starting to dive into more of our academic work.  We are starting our math lessons in earnest this week, so you can expect to see homework (although several students have been completing their homework at school).  We have talked about four possible things that can happen to daily math assignments:  1.  We may check the assignment together and consider it "practice work."  2.  I may check the assignment and place the grade in the grade book (will happen about once every five lessons).  3.  I may check the assignment and not place it in the grade book.  4.  The assignment may go into their portfolios.
Welcome to a new year!
The 2011-2012 school year begins on Monday, August 22.  School begins at 8:10 and ends at 2:00 the entire first week of school.  We will spend lots of time during the first week getting to know each other and building our classroom community.  I am looking forward to a fantastic new year!
